Lake Geneva, Wis.--(December 14, 2010)--What was once a gravel pit is now “Your Skyway to Adventure”. LAKE GENEVA CANOPY TOURS (LGCT), an all season zipline adventure park, will be the first of its kind to open in Wisconsin. Located in the southeast corner of the state, in the popular tourist destination of Lake Geneva, LGCT is a front runner in eco-adventure. Guests will fly through the trees on multiple ziplines for a total experience lasting almost 2 ½ hours. Riders will take in spectacular views of the forest, Lake Como and the surrounding countryside while their guides share interesting information on the ecology, biology, geology and local history of the Geneva Lake area.

“What makes us unique is that once your feet leave the ground, you stay up in the trees, anywhere from 10 to 90 feet above the terra firma,” remarks Mike Goril, General Manager. In addition to the ziplines, guests will cross skybridges and climb spiral staircases. Currently the canopy tour will end with an exhilarating race over 1,100 feet long where riders are expecting to reach speeds of up to 40 mph. The racing ziplines are also available to ride independent of the full tour. Each season will offer a distinct view of nature motivating adventurers to return throughout the year.

The course was designed and installed by S.T.E.P.S., Inc. Founded in 1991 by a group of professionals in education, mental health, and organizational development, S.T.E.P.S. has taken a leading role in developing adventure challenge programs for agencies and organizations across the United States and abroad. S.T.E.P.S. has run more than 250,000 clients through challenge programs at their managed sites, trained more than 3,000 teachers and facilitators, and certified over 350 canopy tour guides.

“We chose S.T.E.P.S.,” says Goril, “after researching several zipline canopy tour facilities across the United States. Their eco-friendly building practices, attention to safety and experience in the industry set them apart.” Safety is Lake Geneva Canopy Tour’s number one priority. Before leading a tour, all LGCT guides undergo extensive training and testing and periodic re-certification. The course was built to meet or exceed Association for Challenge Course Technologies (ACCT) professional building standards.

Lake Geneva Canopy Tours is situated on 100 acres and designed to appeal to everyone. For now, you can enjoy a full canopy tour, dual racing ziplines, hiking trails, picnic areas and free parking. What’s next? “We look forward to exploring more adventure opportunities to bring to the area,” says Goril. “Stay tuned.”

Centrally located between Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison and Rockford, Lake Geneva Canopy Tours is a unique eco-adventure for nature lovers and thrill seekers. Groups are always welcome and gift certificates are now available for purchase. Online reservations are recommended for the full canopy tour but not required. No reservations are needed for the dual racing ziplines. For additional information, contact LGCT, Your Skyway to Adventure, at 262-248-9271 or visit the Web site at www.LakeGenevaCanopyTours.com.
