Walworth County Premieres Summer Bus Route During Wisconsin Transit Week
County Administrator Holds Press Conference at Visitors Bureau
ELKHORN, Wis. — (May 18, 2009) — The Walworth County Visitors Bureau (WCVB) will introduce the county’s first-ever bus route, Walworth County Summer Bus Route, allowing both tourists and area residents to conveniently travel around the county throughout the summer. As Wisconsin Transit Week comes to a close, Walworth County Administrator David Bretl will commence the bus route kick-off event with a press conference on Friday, May 22 at 9:00 a.m. After the speech, Walworth County Visitors Bureau board members and other members of the community will gather for a continental breakfast, to include a champagne and orange juice toast to the new bus system, at the Walworth County Visitors Center located at 203 East Walworth Street, Elkhorn, Wis. At 9:45 a.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony will initiate the inaugural Walworth County’s Summer Bus Ride, touring Bretl, WCVB board members and media through the county.
Walworth County’s Summer Bus Route will provide an economical and environmentally-friendly way for tourists and community residents to easily travel to various towns throughout the county. Along the route, the bus will stop at Lake Geneva, Elkhorn, Delavan, Fontana, Williams Bay, and the Town of Geneva. The county’s bus will be available to the public on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., running May 22 through September 6 and holidays Memorial Day and Labor Day. The cost-effective transit will be free of charge to all bus riders through the month of May and will cost $1 per ride starting June 5, 2009.
“The bus will have a great impact on both tourists and local residents,” remarks Kathleen Seeberg, Executive Director of the Walworth County Visitors Bureau. “Not only will tourists be able to easily travel through the county to see what we have to offer and participate in many of our events, but the bus will also benefit local residents. People can leave their cars at home and have the opportunity to take public transportation, contributing to the green initiative that is so important to our area.”
The colorful full bus wrap will make the transport easy to identify. A list of communities the bus serves is displayed, as well as the colorful logo of the Walworth County Visitors Bureau. “The bus will truly be our ambassador on wheels,” comments Seeberg.
