WCVB Recognized for Promotional Work at German Fest
Walworth County Board Presents Visitors Bureau with Award

Elkhorn, Wis. – (March 29, 2011) – Nancy Russell, Chairperson of the Walworth County Board of Supervisors, bestowed special recognition on the Walworth County Visitors Bureau (WCVB) for their hard work and involvement in promoting Walworth County at German Fest 2010. The county board unanimously approved the motion to confer this accolade to the Visitors Bureau and presented a plaque in honor of this recognition last month.

The Walworth County Visitors Bureau was highly instrumental in organizing and promoting Walworth County as German Fest’s Honor County. The Visitors Bureau hosted an extensive tourism exhibit at German Fest, where representatives from various tourism venues were on hand to provide a sampling of the diverse activities in the Lake Geneva area in Walworth County.

“We were proud to be among the representatives of Walworth County at German Fest,” remarks Kathleen Seeberg. “It was the perfect opportunity for us to literally bring the Visitor Bureau to the German Fest grounds in Milwaukee and give our tourism partners a chance to show off the many great entertainment, lodging and culinary attractions that we have to offer in the greater Lake Geneva area. Our area is the perfect ‘staycation’, being in such close proximity to the Milwaukee and Chicago metro areas.”

Walworth County is the perfect vacation spot for Wisconsin and Illinois residents as it is located between two major cities, approximately 40 miles from Milwaukee and 65 miles from Chicago. In addition to its well-known resorts, the Greater Lake Geneva area is home to state-of-the-art spas, world-class golf courses, exclusive shops, and fine dining. Unique attractions like Yerkes Observatory, the U.S. Mailboat Cruise, Dancing Horses Theatre and East Troy Electric Railroad provide visitors with many diverse activities.

The Walworth County Visitors Bureau, located in Elkhorn, Wis., is dedicated to promoting tourism throughout Walworth County. One of the County's more well-known destinations, Lake Geneva, was named among the 2009 Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C. The Bureau is located in a historic building featuring antiques and vintage items, where visitors can browse through area travel literature and enjoy Wi-Fi and a coffee bar.
