Country with Character Highlights Both Rural Life and City Sophistication in the Lake Geneva Area
Special Fall Events and Activities Take Place Now Through October 31

ELKHORN, Wis. — (September 24, 2009) — Country with Character, a fall extravaganza throughout Walworth County, will continue through the end of October all over the Lake Geneva area. This collection of events features a number of activities that celebrate rural life this autumn including farm tours, apple orchards and pumpkin patches, and plenty of pastoral scenery. If the urban scene is more your style, then there are many attractions including fine dining establishments, resorts and museums for you to visit.

Harvest Festivals and Farm Tours on Saturday, October 3 are among the highlights of Country with Character. Farms throughout the county will be welcoming visitors for a tour, a hayride, an opportunity to feed the animals, or to enjoy a hearty farm breakfast. For a complete list of locations and a schedule, visit
www.countrywithcharacter.com/Farmtour.html  or call 800-395-8687.

Also found in the country setting is the Walworth County Barn Quilt project which combines the art of quilting with the concept of historic preservation.  Area farmers are displaying quilt squares on historic barns, highlighting the architecture and the history of the barns. Visit http://walworth.uwex.edu/ag/barnquilts.html for a quilt trail map.

In addition to agricultural offerings, the area is rich in other outdoor activities like golfing, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. You can even take a hot air balloon ride!

For those who want to retreat to the comforts of a resort, a spa, or a fine dining experience, the Lake Geneva area also provides many opportunities for pampering yourself. With a variety of theatres, museums, and unique attractions like the Lake Geneva Cruise Line, the East Troy Electric Railroad, and Yerkes Observatory, there is something for everyone in the Lake Geneva area.

There is so much to do, you’ll want to stay. Contact the Walworth County Visitors Bureau at (800) 395-8687 for a list of area resorts, hotels, and bed and breakfast lodgings.
